Brief History
In 2006, two partners of Meritus Travel Management started a destination travel management company called ChrisCarl, based out Stockholm, Sweden.
The main products that ChrisCarl sold were travel packages to New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. ChrisCarl started out offering Wall Street theme packages, with visits to the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ. The trips included guided tours presented by seasoned Swedish professionals and house visits to private trading firms.
The Wall Street concept, lifestyle trips to LA and wedding packages to Las Vegas, proved concepts of great demand. Building on the concept of theme package trips, the ChrisCarl concept evolved to a unique business model, encompassing a broader service to both its business and leisure clients. The result of the evolving business model is what laid the foundation for Meritus Travel Management AB.
Meritus Travel Management AB
In January 2009, the two original ChrisCarl partners and a later third partner founded a new company, Meritus Travel Management AB. Meritus Travel Management AB, now has the legal structure suitable to reflect the new business model. The business model had evolved, from a realization of outdated services and products in the common travel management industry.
Meritus realized that corporations, organizations and individuals needed a new set of business and travel services and products, due to the economic downturn that started in 2007.
For businesses and organizations, the downturn had resulted in increased scrutiny in spending. For individual travelers value had become an even more important factor, as there was an increasing uncertantiy in the job market.
As a response to the changing economic environment, Meritus decided to create products and services with greater transparency and better value for its clients.
